Harness Racing’s Best of the Decade (2010 – 2019) – Pacing Broodmare
Sweet Future
While not a star on the racetrack, Sweet Future (Falcons Future – Sweet Dahrlin) has left an indelible mark on star pacing pedigrees for owner Birnam Wood Farms of Boca Raton, Florida. A Hall of Fame broodmare herself, Sweet Future is the dam of recent U.S. Hall of Fame inductee Sweet Lou p,5,1:47f ($3,484,251), 2011’s Dan Patch Two-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year, and Dan Patch Pacer of the Year and Older Pacing Horse of the Year in 2014, as well as two-time Breeders Crown winning world champion Bettor Sweet p,4,1:47.2 ($2,816,687). In addition, she’s the granddam of multiple stakes and award-winning pacers Captain Crunch p,3,1:47.2s ($1,725,495) and Youaremycandygirl p,3,1:48.2 ($1,644,349).
What They Said About Sweet Future:
“When thinking of Sweet Future you would automatically think of Sweet Lou and Bettor Sweet – both have made more than $2 million. However, her daughters have also produced a pair of millionaires in Captain Crunch and Youaremycandygirl. She is certainly the matriarch of an incredible maternal line that runs through her.” – Greg Gangle, Racing Manager, The Raceway at The Western Fair District
“She had an unbelievable 1-2 punch with Sweet Lou and Bettor Sweet. The blinding speed Sweet Lou possessed as a rookie was one-upped by the speed and toughness he demonstrated as an older campaigner. Bettor Sweet wasn’t a headliner in his rookie year, but he later blossomed into a brilliant three year-old and a multi-talented older campaigner.” Ken Middleton, announcer, Woodbine Mohawk Park
“What a decade! Double Breeders Crown winner Bettor Sweet, triple millionaire and world champion Sweet Lou, plus Sweet Paprika — the dam of 2019 North America Cup champ Captain Crunch, and Sweet Mary Jane — the dam of Youaremycandygirl.” – Jeff Porchak, Director of Digital Communications, Standardbred Canada
